About the project

An interactive wall with a 3D model of a power plant, a multi-touch table, a holographic screen at the plenary session and a holographic pyramid for the NIAEP forum in June 2011.

In June 2011 Nizhny Novgorod Engineering Company Atomenergoproekt (NIAEP, a Rosatom enterprise) held the first International Scientific and Practical Forum “Intelligent design. Life-cycle management of complex engineering facilities” — on Multi-D technology, 3D design and managing the construction of nuclear power plants.

Four installations were made for the forum: an interactive wall, a multi-touch table, a holographic screen for the stage and an interactive holographic pyramid.

This is an early work by Artem Maznov, co-founder of 8vision, made before the studio was founded, under the HYPARXIS Interactive Systems brand. The video comes from the HYPARXIS archive on Vimeo.

Interactive wall

A wall-sized projection and a motion sensor: with gestures, a visitor walks through a 3D model of a nuclear power plant turbine hall and picks menu sections — “A virtual walk around the nuclear power plant”, “Multi-D nuclear power plant technology”, “Multi-D technology: room 123”.

Multi-touch table

A multi-touch table with the NIAEP and Multi-D logos: photographs, a city map, 3D scenes, drawing. Several people can work at the table at once.

Holographic screen and pyramid

A transparent holographic screen was placed on the plenary session stage: 3D diagrams and models appeared on it during the talks. A large holographic pyramid hung from a truss above the stand — visitors rotated equipment models inside it with gestures; on Vimeo it is labelled Kaduceus HoloPyramid.
