Kinetic screen game for the Ozon stand at SPIEF 2026

Exhibitions / Kinetic screen game for the Ozon stand at SPIEF 2026

About the project

A game for the kinetic screen on the Ozon stand at SPIEF 2026: one or two guests use joysticks to guide the Hare and the Wolf through an Ozon warehouse and deliver orders to villages.

On 3–6 June 2026 Expoforum hosted the 29th St Petersburg International Economic Forum. The Ozon stand, bearing the slogan “Technology for people”, featured a kinetic screen: its cells slide out of the wall and form a relief.

We made a game for this screen and the software that controls it. The game shows the journey of an order — from receiving at the warehouse to a pick-up point in a remote village — and how Ozon IT systems help at every step.

The task

The stand needed a short game: 90 seconds, one or two players, controlled with a joystick and a button. The bonuses in the game are Ozon technologies. The maze had to do more than appear on the screen — it had to rise in relief: the walls are extended cells of the kinetic screen. Everything had to be ready for the forum opening on 3 June.

What we did

Scenario

We proposed several mechanics — from a game about an Ozon seller to a maze race — and together with the client settled on a game about delivery. The first draft of the script had three levels of 30 seconds each; by the forum it was down to two levels of 45 seconds.

Mode selection

A guest presses “Start” and chooses “1 player” or “2 players”. They play as the Hare and the Wolf in Ozon hoodies: that is what the company calls the two clusters of its supercomputer.

Level 1: “Receiving goods”

A warehouse with racks and boxes. The player is a warehouse worker. They pick up the “Computer vision” bonus, which speeds up receiving “15 times”, and in 45 seconds carry goods to five highlighted points.

Level 2: “Delivery to pick-up points”

A map of villages with a river, bridges and a ferry. The player drives an Ozon van to twelve pick-up points; on the road are a tractor and a herd of cows. The “Smart routing” super-bonus shows the best route for five seconds. If the player manages to reach all twelve points, two more appear.

Fact cards

Before each level and when a bonus is collected, the Wolf and the Hare hold up a card with a task and facts about Ozon: every day entrepreneurs bring around 10 000 000 items to the warehouses, 85 000 pick-up points operate in 20 012 towns and villages across Russia, and the IT system instantly analyses 1 000 000 routes and picks the fastest. In standby mode the screen invites people to play: “380 IT systems and services developed in Russia by Ozon engineers are here to help you”.

Finale

The final screen shows the score, the number of bonuses, the winner and the phrase “Technology for people”. The screen tells players which compartment — blue or pink — to open for a gift. After 10 seconds the game returns to standby mode.

Graphics and animation

Characters in three states — idle, bonus, “hiding”; the van, the tractor, cows, barriers; animations of buttons, the joystick, prompt windows, transitions between levels and the “Thanks for playing” screen.

Software

At the start of a level an animation runs across the screen, and the cells rise to build the walls of the maze — each player has their own. The same software switches the screen between the game, standby mode and signing mode, in which an operator picks a video and plays it on the screen.

Commissioning and support

The software was installed and set up on site on 29–31 May, and the game was supported throughout the forum.

How it is built

The stand’s kinetic screen. Each player’s field is 15 cells wide and 20 high; above the two fields is a strip with the score, timers and player avatars.

Two consoles with a joystick and a button — one per player.

The game is 3D: the environment and game objects were made with 3D modelling and AI generation.

Everything runs on one computer; the software controls the installation with OSC commands.

Result

The game ran on the Ozon stand at the 29th SPIEF, 3–6 June 2026.
