About the project
An interactive for a touch sphere with a globe and images from space, a kaleidoscope video and videos for eight screens of the Shvabe tent at the “Engineers of the Future — 2026” forum.
From 23 June to 3 July 2026 the Shakhtyor park hotel in the village of Bunyrevo, Aleksin District, Tula Region, hosted the 14th International Youth Industrial Forum “Engineers of the Future”. Its organisers include Rostec and the Union of Machine Builders of Russia; this year the forum brought together 1000 young engineers from 56 regions of Russia and 61 countries.
Shvabe, a Rostec holding company, ran the educational course “Biotechnical systems” at the forum — lectures, master classes and team work on an electrocardiograph.
For the Shvabe tent we made an interactive for the touch sphere with a globe, a video for the kaleidoscope screen and videos for the screens of the lecture hall, the master class area and six vertical outdoor screens.

The task
In one week, from 16 to 23 June, we had to build an interactive for the touch sphere: a visitor spins a globe with marked points with a finger, and the screen above the sphere shows videos and images of the chosen place. On top of that, the brief called for a twenty-second video with a 3D kaleidoscope effect and videos for the eight screens of the tent: Shvabe’s ready-made films had to be fitted to the formats of the lecture hall screen, the master class screen and six vertical outdoor screens, and given a shared title screen.
What we did
Touch sphere
A visitor spins the globe on the sphere with a finger and picks one of ten points. While no one touches the sphere, the Earth floats across the screen above it under the caption “Choose a point on the planet”, and an arrow points down at the sphere. Once a point is chosen, the screen plays a ten-second video: the view from orbit zooms in on the selected place, and a caption appears on the satellite image — the country, the site and the date of the shot.
The ten points are Port Hedland in Australia, the Ivanpah solar power plant in California, the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, a water release at the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, the Sepang racing circuit in Malaysia, the Hidase hydroelectric power station under construction in Ethiopia, Luzhniki in Moscow, Lake Retba in Senegal, Niagara Falls and Galešnjak island in Croatia. All the images were taken by the Aist-2D small spacecraft, whose Avrora optoelectronic payload was made by Shvabe. The images come from the Roscosmos website, as stated in the caption of each video.
Kaleidoscope
A twenty-second video with a 3D kaleidoscope effect: glass crystals, glowing rings and patterns, with the Shvabe emblem in the centre of the frame at the start. It loops without a jump and comes as three files — for the left, centre and right parts of the kaleidoscope screen.
Tent screens
We made a shared “Biotechnical systems” title screen with the logos of Rostec, Shvabe and UOMZ for the outdoor screens, and a version of it for the lecture hall screen. We fitted Shvabe’s films to the formats of the eight screens: for the lecture hall and the master class, videos of about 1 min 40 s; for the six vertical outdoor screens, from 1 min 30 s to 4 min 40 s; horizontal films sit on the vertical screens in a frame over an animated background. For presentations on the lecture hall screen we made a matte — a background underlay.
Launch on site
Before the forum opened, on 21–22 June, we set up the equipment and network in the tent and installed the content.
How it is built
The sphere and the screen above it work together: choosing a point on the globe starts its video on the screen.
The standby loop on the screen above the sphere is a 3840×2160 video 6.5 minutes long, played on repeat; the point videos are 1920×1080, 10 seconds each.
The kaleidoscope — three parts of 1920×960 each.
Tent screens: lecture hall — 1728×960, master class — 2560×1440, six vertical outdoor screens — 640×1152.
Result
The work was delivered on 23 June 2026, the day the forum opened. The forum ran for eleven days, until 3 July.
