About the project

Software for an advertising group’s stand at the ProMediaTech 2024 festival: a quiz about the exhibition profession, a prediction printer and a showcase of videos about the group’s projects, started by an acrylic card.

On 25–26 January 2024 Crocus Expo hosted the 15th ProMediaTech international festival of promotion and advertising technologies: according to the organisers, more than 150 companies from eight countries on 8000 square metres. One of the advertising groups showed its stand there — red and black, with a curved screen on the corner.

We wrote four programs for the stand: a quiz about exhibition work, a showcase of the group’s projects, a splash screen for it and a program for the prediction printer. A visitor places an acrylic card in a slot — and a video about the chosen project starts on the stand’s curved screen.

The task

The group showed its lines of business on the stand — museums, events, digital, exhibitions, souvenirs — and its major projects. Guests needed to be able to choose what to watch themselves, and to be kept at the stand with a game that tests their knowledge of the profession.

What we did

Quiz “Find out how much of a professional you are in the exhibition industry”

Two vertical screens in a column of the stand under the words “Play with us”: one shows the “Answer 10 questions” splash screen, the other, a touch screen, runs the quiz itself. The questions are about the jargon and customs of exhibition work, for example: “At a ‘stage’ build-up someone shouts: ‘Vasya, switch on the head!’ What is this about?” or “‘Make a mood board for the project’ — what do they want from you?”. The quiz database has 48 questions, and in one game a guest answers ten. Each has four answer options, with a progress bar at the bottom. At the end come a score and a title: for example, 3/10 — “Industry newcomer”, 10/10 — “Super professional” with an invitation to send a CV.

Card-driven project showcase

In front of the curved screen stands a rack of clear acrylic cards — SPIEF, “Russia”, Expo, Event, Digital, Print and others, 16 in all. While the slot is empty, the screen shows a splash screen inviting guests to learn about the group’s lines of business and best projects, the names of the lines Museum, Event, Digital, Expo, Gifts and the hint “Place a card in the slot to watch a video”. A visitor takes a card and places it in the slot — the program reads the RFID tag, and the card’s video plays on the screen: the showcase library has 16 videos, five about the group’s lines of business and eleven about projects, from SPIEF and the “Russia” Expo to the Victory Museum.

Prediction printer

On the stand wall is a round button: a guest presses it and the printer prints a receipt with a prediction for 2024 and a QR code. The program has 30 predictions — for example, “The best projects are made by teams. Great success awaits you this year!”

How it is built

Quiz: two vertical screens built into a column of the stand. The interface is in the group’s brand colours — a red background with three-dimensional lines, answer cards A–D, and the buttons “Start the quiz!” and “Play again”.

Showcase: a card slot on the rack in front of the curved screen; each of the 16 cards has its own RFID tag and its own video. The splash screen is a separate 13.8-second video. The screen is flexible, 3.5 × 2 metres, and the content is 1344 × 768 pixels.

Prediction printer: a button on the stand wall; the receipt carries the group’s logo, a prediction, “2024” and a QR code.

Result

The festival took place on 25–26 January 2024. The quiz, the showcase and the printer were filmed in use with visitors in the video about the stand, published on 30 January 2024; on the same day the group wrote about the stand in the news section of its website.

The showcase and the quiz on the stand: a card placed in the slot starts a video on the curved screen; next to it, the ten-question quiz
