About the project
Content for LED screens and two interactive exhibits on the Moscow Government stand at Russian Energy Week 2022: ten city utility companies and a map of Moscow covering six sectors.
On 12–14 October 2022 the 5th International Forum “Russian Energy Week” was held at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall. It was organised by the Roscongress Foundation and the Ministry of Energy of Russia with the support of the Moscow Government. The Moscow Government stand presented the Moscow Housing and Utilities Complex: the companies that supply the city with heat, gas, electricity and water, and how the city's networks work.
We made the media content and two interactive exhibits for the stand: animation for the large LED wall and for the frieze reading “Moscow Government”, a screen with videos about ten city utility companies that guests switch between with a controller, and a map of Moscow showing the networks and key figures for six sectors.

The task
Over the three days of the forum, the stand had to show guests what Moscow's city utilities are made up of: which companies stand behind them, what they build and how large each sector is in figures. Guests had to be able to choose what to watch for themselves. The stand's large LED surfaces had to be filled with branded animation. All by the forum's opening on 12 October.
What we did
LED wall and frieze
Animation for the long curved LED wall along the aisle leading to the stand: waves of glowing lines in red and blue variants, in normal and slow-motion versions. The words “Moscow Government” for the LED frieze above the entrance.

“City utility companies”
A large screen with a touch controller in front of it. On the controller, the logos of ten companies surround a round knob: Mosenergo, United Energy Company, MOEK, Rosseti Moscow Region, Mosenergosbyt, Moskollektor, Moscow Energy Directorate, Mosgaz, Mosvodokanal and Mossvet. A guest selects a company — its logo turns to colour and the others fade — and then watches “About the company” or “Projects”. The large screen plays a video with captions and figures in an “interface” frame — for MOEK, for example: “Supplying heat and hot water to more than 74,000 buildings”. There are twenty videos in all, 35–85 seconds each: ten about the companies and ten about city utility projects. While no one is using the controller, the screen shows an intro with views of Moscow.

Map of city utilities
A screen with a map of Moscow and six sectors: heat supply, gas, electricity supply, water supply and sewerage, stormwater drainage, and utility tunnels. In front of the screen is a round table, and the screen prompts: “Place a token in the centre of the table to learn more about the sector”. Each sector has a 25-second video: the sector's networks light up on the map in their own colour, with the key figures alongside. In the “Heat supply” section, for example: over 17,000 km of heating networks, more than 10,600 heating substations and 59 400 Gcal/h of installed heat capacity.

How it is built
The large screen with the company videos is an LED screen, and the videos were made at 2496×1344; the map screen is 2304×1344; the controller is a 1920×1080 touch screen on a round stand.
The LED wall is a canvas of 11136×1920 pixels, and the frieze above the entrance 6720×576.
Under the controller mechanics diagram, the company is selected with a PowerMate rotary knob; waves spread out around it on the screen as an invitation to start.
All videos were delivered in the HAP codec for playback on a media server.
The overall style of the screens: a dark background, thin lines and figures “as in an interface”, and a colour of its own for each sector and company.
Result
All the screens and both interactive exhibits were working on the morning of 12 October, in time for the forum's opening, and the stand ran for all three days, 12–14 October 2022.
